Thomas Ford Memorial Library
Western Springs, Illinois

Built in 1932, the Thomas Ford Memorial Library is Edith Ford’s memorial to her husband, Thomas, who was a Western Springs resident.  Mr. Ford was traveling to Europe when he tragically died in a subway accident in New York.  Mr. Ford’s legacy is well served in this lovely library that offers a variety of programs for area residents of all ages, from computer classes to film discussion groups to children’s reading programs. In addition to housing the typical collection of books, reference materials, etc., the Thomas Ford Memorial Library maintains an impressive collection of plays.  A construction project to expand the library was completed in 1996.
