LaGrange
Village Hall
LaGrange, Illinois
The Village of La Grange was incorporated in 1879. Located approximately
14 miles west of Chicago, in Cook County, LaGrange occupies a land
area of approximately 2.5 square miles and has an estimated population
of 15,600.
LaGrange is a relatively affluent community with a cosmopolitan
flair. As a mature community located within the inner suburban ring
of a major metropolitan area, La Grange has maintained an image
of quality and stability. The Village offers a diverse selection
of housing alternatives, including a district of impeccably restored
and maintained historic homes, an established central business district
and excellent library, park and school systems. Ideally located,
LaGrange is easily accessible from several major interstates and
roadways, is served by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway
and is convenient to both of Chicago’s major airports, O’Hare
International Airport and Midway Airport. Residents enjoy equally
convenient access to the attractions of the City of Chicago as well
as the forest preserves and recreation areas of the western suburbs
– all less than 30 minutes away.
The Village's commercial base is made up primarily of smaller businesses
that provide friendly, personalized service and quality merchandise.
In recent years, many dining establishments have chosen to locate
in La Grange creating a distinct niche or "restaurant row"
for the Village. The business community is an active participant
in enhancing the vibrancy of the downtown area by maintaining attractive
storefronts and by sponsoring various annual community events such
as the "Pet Parade," "Endless Summer," the "Christmas
Walk," and the “West End Arts Festival.” |
